We are proud to be a resource for our clients and referral sources especially when it relates to intellectual property matters. We have a network of lawyers and firms across the world to help keep us apprised of new procedures and changes in the patent and trademark law.
We recently received an update related to new examination fees from the Japanese Patent Office located in Tokyo, Japan from our fellow intellectual property attorney, Aki Ryuka from the Ryuka IP Law Firm. Here is what you need to know:
Official Examination Fees will Increase in Japan
The Japan Patent Office will increase the official examination fee as of April 1, 2019.
The new fee applies, if the application filing date (International Filing date for a PCT rout application and actual filing date for a divisional application) is on or after April 1, 2019.
We suggest filing the application by the end of March. Particularly, if the due date for filing a divisional application falls in April, the divisional application should be filed within March.
